Centennial Colorado is the newest Metro Denver community and is located on the south side of Denver. It was founded in 2001 and has a population of nearly 103,000 residents. It was recognized as one of the safest cities in America in 2005 by Morgan Quitno Press. The Rocky Mountain News reported Centennial as having "by far" the lowest crime rate of all metro Denver communities. Centennial ranked 25th out of 369 American cities in the 12th Annual Safest Cities Awards.
Recreational enthusiasts can pursue a variety of activities at facilities located within Centennial. Arapahoe County Recreational District, South Suburban Parks and Recreation and Arapahoe Parks and Recreation are the citys primary recreational districts. Cherry Creek Lake State Park offers fishing, boating and swimming.
Residents seek this community because of proximity to downtown Denver, short commute to area business parks and access to excellent schools. Students are served by the Cherry Creek School District and Littleton Public Schools. Private schools are also readily available for residents.
